Review

"Wilson (electrical and electronic engineering, U. of Southampton) revises a textbook and handbook written by Tim Williams and previously published in 1990 and 2004. Some of the technological details have changed in the two decades, he says, but most of the underlying principles remain the same. There is material here for anyone from bright-eyed students to grizzled veterans, though not always the same information. Among the topics are printed circuits, active components, analogy integrated circuits, electromagnetic compatibility, and general product design." --Reference and Research Book News, Inc.

Good update on a standard, although kinda pricey for what it is
By Joel Kolstad
I happen to have access to a copy of the second edition of this book courtesy of my employer. It's a great reference when you're starting a new product or shifting to a new phase of product design (e.g., PCB layout, power distribution, EMC, etc.) since it clearly and thoroughly covers a lot of the basics. Ironically, many of the topics in it are *not* what a newly-minted electrical engineer coming out of school knows -- the information in the book is a lot of very *practical* advice about what really works (or not) and how things are really done (or not) in industry, which is a topic many schools don't address... or only address at a superficial level. Even for experienced engineers, it's a good resource to quickly clarify foggy memories of things like, "let's see... is it the X or Y capacitor types that are line to line?"

There's not as many additions to the third edition as you might expect. The new material is primary regarding programmable logic devices, ADCs, and a tiny bit on power management -- largely reflecting how ubiquitous programmable logic has has become, how many more devices now need at least some real-world (analog) input, and how many more devices today are battery-powered, I guess. The "Introduction to the 3rd Edition" does mention this -- that it "has really been an exercise of revision rather than revolution." As far as I can tell, that largely just means that they re-drew some of the illustrations, re-formatted some tables, re-flowed the text to fit the now-slightly-larger page size... and hopefully went over the material with a fine-toothed comb to check for errors?

It is true that today most of what's in this book can readily be found on-line with just a little Googling. However, I still think it has significant value in that the book is so comprehensive, rather than having to bookmark/search for a dozen different web sites each covering the equivalent of a few chapters of the book, you just have to crack open this one tome and it's all covered.

Overall, while this is a good book, it's kinda hard to recommend at anything approaching the full-retail price of sixty bucks. Forty would be more like it, IMO (and happens to be about the eBook price)... and I'd be recommending it to everyone as a "must have" if it were thirty or less. As-is, I suggest trying to find a bargain on the second edition, which should be available as the 3rd edition "takes over" ... although ironically as of today (4/6/12), the second edition has a higher price tag!

I'm not an EE, and I don't play one on television...
By Kurt G. Schumacher
I'm a software guy. Putting a soldering iron in my hand is not the best decision you could make. But I put in a lot of time working for companies that are primarily hardware developers, so I had to learn something about electronics and circuit design. I mostly do website and graphics design these days, but I have some friends who are Electrical Engineers, and I like to be able to understand what they're saying sometimes. And I wanted something a bit more advanced that "Electronics for Dummies".

The Circuit Designer's Companion is way more advanced than that. Certainly more than I need, but I still found it very interesting when it wasn't making my brain hurt. And it's not totally irrelevant to software development; one of my first instructors in programming described a computer program as a "temporary circuit". I did learn a lot about electronics from reading it.

I showed this book to my EE friends, and they all wanted to steal it. I had some of them over to play cards one night when I had just got the book in. They saw it and spent the rest of the evening going through the book looking for the "new bits" while I worked on my website. Gotta love engineers.

Based on their recommendations, if you're in the electronics field, especially circuit design, you should have this book. (One of them has the first and second editions, and he still tried to steal mine!)

The slightest of drawbacks -- otherwise a brilliant source
By J
It should be noted that this very valuable engineering book was written and updated by expert British engineers, and so the section on PCB layout practices revolves around millimeters and not inches. Just a slight drawback if you're a U.S. engineer where the PCB industry is interpreted mostly using mils (0.001"). I don't mind adding the conversions as I go. Have had the book for only one week as a reference at work and I've already used it several times. Highly recommended. It is actually more useful than (and works faster than) the internet.

Extreme Medicine: How Exploration Transformed Medicine in the Twentieth Century, by Kevin Fong M.D.

Little more than one hundred years ago, maps of the world still boasted white space: places where no human had ever trod. Within a few short decades the most hostile of the world’s environments had all been conquered. Likewise, in the twentieth century, medicine transformed human life. Doctors took what was routinely fatal and made it survivable. As modernity brought us ever more into different kinds of extremis, doctors pushed the bounds of medical advances and human endurance. Extreme exploration challenged the body in ways that only the vanguard of science could answer. Doctors, scientists, and explorers all share a defining trait: they push on in the face of grim odds. Because of their extreme exploration we not only understand our physiology better; we have also made enormous strides in the science of healing.

Drawing on his own experience as an anesthesiologist, intensive care expert, and NASA adviser, Dr. Kevin Fong examines how cuttingedge medicine pushes the envelope of human survival by studying the human body’s response when tested by physical extremes. Extreme Medicine explores different limits of endurance and the lens each offers on one of the systems of the body. The challenges of Arctic exploration created opportunities for breakthroughs in open heart surgery; battlefield doctors pioneered techniques for skin grafts, heart surgery, and trauma care; underwater and outer space exploration have revolutionized our understanding of breathing, gravity, and much more. Avant-garde medicine is fundamentally changing our ideas about the nature of life and death.

Through astonishing accounts of extraordinary events and pioneering medicine, Fong illustrates the sheer audacity of medical practice at extreme limits, where human life is balanced on a knife’s edge. Extreme Medicine is a gripping debut about the science of healing, but also about exploration in its broadest sense—and about how, by probing the very limits of our biology, we may ultimately return with a better appreciation of how our bodies work, of what life is, and what it means to be human.

From Booklist
Inner space, outer space, and regions in between—this is the sprawling subject matter of a book that celebrates the challenges of discovery. Fong, a physician with a background in astrophysics, engineering, and aerospace medicine, ably identifies the correlations and convergence of exploring extreme environments and predicaments and the human body. For example, he tethers an expedition to the South Pole with forthcoming medical applications of hypothermia. He links the disfiguring burns suffered by WWII aircraft pilots with the development of reconstructive plastic surgery. Fong focuses on the fragility of human physiology and efforts to protect it with advanced life-support systems. Along the way, readers learn about the rise of intensive-care units, human spaceflight, iron lungs and polio, a complete face transplant, and SARS. Exploration of any kind is risky business and at times seems irrational. It requires curiosity, innovation, and resiliency, and it pushes the limits of knowledge, territory, and biology. Fong makes the point that human survival has been and will continue to be closely connected to our compulsion to explore. --Tony Miksanek

Review
The Washington Post:
“Every chapter combines personal stories, dramatic medical history and clear, vivid science writing…Fong’s book presents daring moments in medicine along with lucid explanations of human physiology and of how medical professionals manage to keep people alive or pull them back from the brink. It should appeal to would-be astronauts, outdoor-lovers, mountain climbers, free-divers, armchair explorers, science enthusiasts, those working in the health professions or wondering about such a career—indeed, just about anyone with a heartbeat and a dash of curiosity.”

The Wall Street Journal:
“In Extreme Medicine, physician Kevin Fong reminds us that virtually everything we take for granted in lifesaving medical intervention was once unthinkable… Dr. Fong's engaging and fast-paced narrative is liberally sprinkled with his own harrowing experiences as a specialist in anesthesia and intensive-care.”

Discover:
“[Fong] weaves first hand, nail-biting ER experiences with gripping historical narrative as he recounts 100 years of breakthroughs...[Fong] looks forward as well: He offers tantalizing ideas about surviving long-term space travel and other possibilities that await us in our relentless quest to explore.”

Mother Jones:
“With clear, evocative prose, he takes readers to ocean depths and mountaintops, and also deep within our bodies, in this entertaining exploration of human limits.”

Kirkus Reviews (starred):
"A medical thriller of the first order."

Publishers Weekly:
"[An] eloquent history of how 20th-century science and medicine moved us toward 'improved survival'--and with it a better understanding of life and death...these are thrilling stories that describe the limits of human psychology."

Atul Gawande, surgeon and author of Complications, Better, and The Checklist Manifesto:
"In Extreme Medicine, the ever-intrepid Kevin Fong reveals the fascinating link between geographical exploration and medical innovation, with stories that are as strange and intriguing as they are illuminating."

Professor Brian Cox, author of The Quantum Universe:"It would be hard to find anyone better qualified to write a book on the limits of human physiology than Dr Kevin Fong. His experiences in human spaceflight at NASA, in frontline medicine, and his deep scientific knowledge, shine through. If you want to know what the human body can take, and why we must continue to push ourselves beyond the limit in the name of exploration, then read this book."

The Observer (UK):

"Anatomy and physiology are elegantly explained, not as abstract theory, but as counterpoint to gripping stories about survival against the odds. Real stories of life and near-death form the compelling backbone of the book. The book could easily have ended up as a series of Boy's Own tales of derring-do, but Fong elegantly balances heroism with rationalism, courage with compassion, shock with humility and humor."

Guardian (UK):

"From the outset Ice and Fire is a gripping read. It's the kind of book you want to read peeking through cracks in your fingers; you want to look away, but not as much as you want to know what happens… I held my breath, I shed a tear, I laughed out loud, and I struggled to keep my lunch down at various points through this book, and that can only be a good thing."

Times Higher Education

(UK

)

:
"Fong weaves together seemingly unconnected events in this world and beyond in a series of breathless vignettes… an appealing mix of academic eloquence and matey talk: … In many ways, Ice and Fire is the story of the 20th century…We explore because we must, and if you have a sense of adventure and the miracle of life within you, then this book is for you."

Daily Mail:

"Fong has dramatic first-person accounts to give, and many more… he also proves himself to be a genuinely talented author… Fong has come up with an often fascinating and actually rather inspiring account of western medicine’s ever-increasing expertise."

Deceiving title - excellent book
By DragonWing
When you read a blurb, 'How exploration transformed medicine in the twentieth century," you expect the book to be about "how exploration transformed medicine in the twentieth century!"

This book started out in that vein...talking about the death of Robert Falcon Scott in Antarctica...but that was the last time exploration came into this book! I expected to learn about how folks were going into the jungles of the Amazon, looking for plants that could cure horrible diseases, or diving in oceans looking for kelp or the toxin of some dangerous fish that could actually help mankind...but it was not to be.

It was more a reminiscence of Fong's time as an internist, and recounting of various modern day medical stories.

So to begin with I was pretty annoyed that I wasn't getting what I had expected, but to be honest the book as it is, *is* pretty interesting. We do learn a great deal about medicine - told in terms a layperson can understand - and about advances in medical care and how the determination of a patient can tip the scales for the better...

So I do recommend this book for anyone who is interested in healthcare and medicine and how doctors are helping patients through hypothermia, burn victims...all the way through to what astronauts will have to face on the way to Mars due to the health deterioration caused by weightlessness (as a matter of fact, what astronauts today have gone through - those that have lived on the space station for months at a time.)

If you're looking for how exotic plants or animals might help improve medical care, this is not the book for you. If you're looking ot learn how doctors have helped people who have suffered extreme health issues due to accident, check it out.

Fascinating medical details but the author wanders a bit
By Laurie A. Brown
The subtitle of this book is a little misleading; while the medicine described is (or was when it was first developed) extreme, very little of it was actually brought about by exploration. The first chapter, ‘Ice’ starts with the exploration of Antarctica, which did teach us a lot about dealing with extreme cold and hypothermia, which eventually led to the use of hypothermia during radical surgeries and other treatments. ‘Fire’, which tells about the beginnings of plastic surgery and skin grafts, is based in WW 1 and how many pilots were burned beyond recognition when their planes burnt around them in battle. ‘Trauma’ shows us the first ambulance use in the Napoleonic Wars and how the trauma protocol was invented by a doctor who crashed the small plane he was flying with his family as passengers. Polio led to life support machines and ICU style care- supporting vital systems to give the body time to heal itself. Still, even though the title isn’t accurate, it’s an interesting book. The author jumps around a lot; it’s not a smooth narrative. Sometimes he gives a historical account, sometimes he writes about his own experiences (and he has had a lot of experiences; he got a degree in physics before he turned to medicine and has worked with NASA), sometimes he tells us about what happens to the body in these extreme situations. Those were the parts I found most fascinating, especially in the ‘Ice’ chapter, when he recounts how a skier went hypothermic to the point that her heart stopped, but because she was so cold, brain damage did not occur even though she went three hours without a heartbeat. An interesting book but it wanders a bit.

well written, a bit thin at times
By mikemac9
I enjoyed reading this book and felt I learned about how some areas of medicine have advanced and about the pioneers in the field. The book includes stories about the advent of the ICU in the rush to save polio victims, how horrific war injuries led to advances in plastic surgery, and more. At the same time I felt there were chapters that felt "thin". For example the chapter on aging introduces a remarkable WWI veteran, yet seemed thin to me on explaining what is going on in the aging process. Or, for that matter, once we became interested in the chap, in explaining what happened to him. Overall I'd say its a good book but could have used few chapters in more depth.

The Fifty-Year Wound: How America's Cold War Victory Has Shaped Our World, by Derek Leebaert

The Fifty-Year Wound is the first cohesively integrated history of the Cold War, one replete with important lessons for today. Drawing upon literature, strategy, biography, and economics -- plus an inside perspective from the intelligence community -- Derek Leebaert explores what Americans sacrificed at the same time that they achieved the longest great-power peace since Rome fell. Why did they commit so much in wealth and opportunity with so little sustained complaint? Why did the conflict drag on for decades? What did the Cold War do to the country, and how? What was lost while victory was gained? Leebaert has uncovered an astonishing array of never-published documents and information, including major revelations about American covert operations and Soviet military activities. He has found, in the shadows of one of this century's great, epic stories, the sort of details and explanations that hit with the force of a lightning bolt and will change forever the way we think about our past.

Amazon.com Review
America won the cold war, what Derek Leebaert calls a "muffled world war" in The Fifty-Year Wound, but the cost of victory--psychically, morally, and financially--was beyond frightful. The Soviet Union collapsed peacefully; civilization survived "more or less" intact; the world was "liberalized," and the cold war period was the longest "great power" peace since Rome fell. But a half-century "pattern of alarm" and the "industry of national security" curbed freedoms, diverted talent into "fundamentally unproductive" fields, postponed research, "trammeled" investment, and caused a national "waste of spirit." As well, Leebaert suggests the Cuban missiles were primarily psychological threats; American involvement in Vietnam led to OPEC's economic muscle; Kennedy was perhaps the most hawkish of post-WWII presidents, and that the events of September 11 were a direct cold war legacy. This massive, comprehensive, and stern but guardedly optimistic overview will reward the determined reader with its insights and hundreds of telling, sometimes shocking, details. --H. O'Billovitch

From Publishers Weekly
Leebaert, a founding editor of the journal International Security and lecturer in government at Georgetown, recalls how Paul Nitze, a long-time Cold Warrior, said at the turn of the 21st century that "we did a goddamn good job" with the Cold War. Leebaert answers that assessment in his sure-to-be-controversial and riveting book, in which heretofore unpublished documents and new analyses combine to create a lucid, balanced and in-depth study of the issue. "Well," Leebaert writes, "yes and no: yes if the overriding emphasis is that civilization survived more or less intact, that the Soviet Union collapsed peacefully, and that most of the world was liberalized along the way; no if we dwell on the indirection, inexcusable ignorance, political intrusions, personal opportunism, and crimes underlying this ultimate victory." What, in other words, did we lose in order to win? After relatively few pages outlining the postwar crises and confrontations up to 1950 and the Korean War, Leebaert begins what becomes a brilliant and highly quotable examination of what went right and what went wrong mostly wrong, he argues as the U.S. went from containment of a virulent and ominous U.S.S.R. to abetting its collapse. According to Leebaert, the often astonishing history of our recent past has numerous villains the CIA, the Pentagon, "systems analysis" technicians, a greedy "scientific and technological elite" and what Eisenhower called the "military-industrial-congressional complex." But Ike himself is one of Leebaert's heroes, as are Truman, Marshall and Reagan (he credits the latter with accelerating the end of the Cold War). Others, such as Kennedy and Nixon, get rough treatment (for them, the presidency was "a means for displaying planetary ambitions"), as do political gurus such as Kennan and Kissinger. America had to face down the Soviets almost alone, hindered, Leebaert asserts, by the rapaciousness of the OPEC nations and the self-interest of not only the rebuilding Japan, but of France and Britain as well. He considers the Korean War to have been "the detonator that blew U.S. power around the world" and that ended any chance of post-WWII American isolationism; the Chernobyl disaster,he contends, symbolized the Soviet empire's long slide into ineptitude and paralysis. His claim, however, that the greatest Cold War nuclear crisis came not from missiles in Cuba during the Kennedy years, but from the paranoid and disintegrating Andropov in 1983, will raise some eyebrows. Much happened in the 50 years that was "harmful to American life," Leebaert writes, and many of those costs emerge as frighteningly high in this analysis. 16 pages of photos not seen by PW.

From Library Journal
We won the Cold War, but at what cost? Going beyond the traditional diplomatic history of scholars like John Lewis Gaddis (We Now Know: Rethinking Cold War History, Oxford Univ., 1998. rev. ed.) and recalling H.W. Brands's The Devil We Knew: Americans and the Cold War (Oxford Univ., 1994. reprint), Leebaert, who teaches government at Georgetown University and has written previously on Soviet military strategy, has used both primary and secondary sources to craft a new synthesis of America's 50-year dance with the Soviet Union. He shows how after World War II American leadership became fixated on maintaining a strong military capacity while struggling to create sustained growth at home. He considers what America would have been like if those trillions of dollars spent on the Cold War as well as the attention of the best minds of two generations had been directed toward improving the social and cultural condition of the American people. In the most important work on the Cold War to come out in years, Leebaert makes us contemplate what we lost while winning the Cold War. Highly recommended for all collections. A Breath of Sanity--Hard Look at Cost of Cold War
By Robert David STEELE Vivas
This is an extraordinary book, in part because it forces us to confront the "hangover" effects of the Cold War as we begin an uncertain path into the post 9-11 future. It begins by emphasizing that the Cold War glorified certain types of institutions, personalities, and attitudes, and ends by pointing out that we paid a very heavy cost--much as General and President Eisenhower tried to warn us--in permitting our society to be bound by weaponry, ideology, and secrecy.
Two quotes, one from the beginning, one from the end, capture all that lies in between, well-documented and I would add--contrary to some opinions--coherent and understandable.
"For the United States, the price of victory goes far beyond the dollars spend on warheads, foreign aid, soldiers, propaganda, and intelligence. It includes, for instance, time wasted, talent misdirected, secrecy imposed, and confidence impaired. Particular costs were imposed on industry, science, and the universities. Trade was distorted and growth impeded." (page xi)
"CIA world-order men whose intrigues more often than not started at the incompetent and went down from there, White House claims of 'national security' to conceal deceit, and the creation of huge special interests in archaic spending all too easily occurred because most Americans were not preoccupied with the struggle." (page 643)
Although the author did not consult the most recent intelligence reform books (e.g. Berkowitz, Johnson, Treverton, inter alia), he is consistently detailed and scathing in his review of intelligence blunders and the costs of secrecy--in this he appears to very ably collaborate the findings of Daniel Ellsberg's more narrowly focused book on "SECRETS: A Memoire of Vietnam and the Pentagon Papers." He points out, among many many examples, that despite Andropov's having been head of the KGB for fifteen years, at the end of it CIA still did not know if Andropov has a wife or spoke English. He also has a lovely contrast between how little was learned using very expensive national technical means (secret satellites) and open sources: "So much failure could have been avoided if CIA has done more careful homework during the 1950s in the run-up to Sputnik; during the 1960s, when Sovieet marshals were openly publishing their thoughts on nuclear strategy; or during the 1970s and 1980s, when stagnation could be chronicled in the unclassified gray pages of Soviet print. Most expensively, the CIA hardly ever learned anything from its mistakes, largely because it would not admit them." (pages 567-568).
The author's biographic information does not include any reference to military service, but footnote 110 suggests that he was at least in Officer Candidate School with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. The biography, limited to the inside back jacket flap, also avoids discussing the author's considerable experience with information technology. Given the importance of this critique of all that most Republicans and most 50-70 year olds hold very sacred, we need to more about the man goring the ox. Future editions should have a much expanded biography.
Bottom line: America muddled through the Cold War, made many costly mistakes, and developed a policy-making process that is, to this day, largely uninformed due to a lack of a comprehensive global intelligence capability, or a sufficient means of consulting diverse experts (as opposed to the in-town intellectual harlots). If ever we needed a clean-sheet look at how we make policy and how we provide decision-support to that policy process, this is the time. The "fifty-year wound" is still open, and the author warns us it will not heal without a reappraisal of how we do the business of national security.

important story-poorly told
By Stephen M. Picca MD
Without understanding the hisory of the cold war you cannot make any sense out of the present state of the nation or of current events such as the disaster of Sept.11. This book attempts to give an overview of this enourmous subject from the end of WWII up until today. It is well referenced and informative and many non-historians would benefit from reading it. The main problem is that the writing is terrible. It reads like a first draft of a book that the author did not have the time or interest to craft into a real book. As such it is simultaneously interesting, informative and frustrating to read.

An Engaging Mess
By Brandon Chitwood
Considering the author's weighted interest toward technology and business, it is surprising how well much of this book reads. It is nothing if not quotable, brimming with insight-packed sentences and entertaining character sketches. Leebaert definitely knows his stuff: this doorstop-worthy tome is loaded with information.
Perhaps too much information. The main flaw of the book is its rather bogus thesis: The Cold War was filled with "costs." Yes, I suppose any forty year endeavor would be filled with its share of expenditures, many mistaken, but this is hardly the most enlightening point to make about the superpower conflict. Unfortunately, it is Leebaert's point, and he desperately tries to tie every nugget of info he tosses at the reader into his great theme. Every chapter, no matter how diffuse the subjects covered, is rounded off with a monotonously pedestrian "these mistakes could have been avoided" conclusion a harried undergraduate would have been ashamed to employ.
Many of Leebaert's mini-analyses of various arenas of the conflict are fascinating: his emphasis on the economic and technological subplots of the Cold War are particularly insightful. But the attempt to weave these analyses into an overarching narrative ultimately undo much of the coherence of the book. His appraisal of many of the power players in the struggle often come across as bitchy or unfair (as he spends little time examining the reasons for their actions, but nonetheless tallying their "mistakes" to play up his theme).
Another problem is that many of his assessments come to contradict each other: while showing how the Soviets ground their economy into the ground preparing for a "winnable" nuclear pre-emptive strike, Leebaert condemns the US "mandarinate" for advocating the essentially common sense theory of mutual assured destruction, rather than dangerously aping the Soviets in constructing ABM defenses (which, Leebaert refrains from explaining, are built to fire nuclear weapons at incoming ICBMs in the atmosphere. In which case, a city will suffer double the number of thermonuclear airbursts it would without the defense. The ABM Treaty of 1972, which the author does not hide his disdain for, was set up with the understanding that MORE offensive nuclear weapons around cities does not constitute a "defense," but rather, a furthering of an offensive arms race. Later in the book, it appears that Leebaert's ambiguous attraction to the SDI program has influenced his judgement). At various times, weapons build-ups are deemed wasteful, or necessary, depending on Leebaert's opinion of the administration calling for the build-up. JFK's triumphalism is derided as reckless, Ronald Reagan's is applauded as decicive---though the author considers the Soviet war scare of 1983, which Reagan's rhetoric precipitated, the most dangerous time of the Cold War. The ambiguities and inconsistencies in Leebaert's assessments need more development to explain them, but, given the scope of the work, the reader is usually left with a stream of brief anecdotes.
These contradictions, along with a thesis so broad as to be practically meaningless, often make the reader pause and wonder if the author has not taken on more than he can handle. A reader looking for a clear, introductory narrative of the period is advised to look elsewhere (Martin Walker's book is quite good). But for Cold War nuts looking for an engaging new spin on familiar material, as well as a deeper appreciation of the less-reported aspects of this apocalyptic time, this is a good addition to the literature.

best book available
By Pascal Tiscali
As a first year neuroscience graduate student I had to hack through Martin's neuroanatomy textbook. Not until a month before my comprehensive exam did I discover this book - my girlfriend found a copy out on the sidewalk, left behind by a departing medical student probably - filled with hasty underlines and unintelligible scribbles in bic pen. But, it was a godsend. The quality of this text is immediately apparent to anyone who has tried to learn from it. If you begin from ignorance, use this book! If you already know everything go ahead and show off to yourself that you can understand Martin or for that matter a straight atlas of brain sections with no text at all! But for those who need concepts, themes, integrative explanations, this books is by far the best thing available.
The basic idea of this book is to provide a rudimentary brain atlas of real photographs with annotations, and then to go through each functional system separately and with schematic figures. The book is bound in waterproof material and even the pages are tough enough to withstand being dragged around, dripped on with coffee or with formaldehyde, etc.
I am not kidding, people, this book is supreme for its kind. We should thank Lennart Heimer for turning neuroanatomy from an arcane, incoherent list of latin names, into a simple, coherent, and fascinating course of study.

How to Quit Meth Now: A Self-Help Guide to Kicking Your Meth or Cocaine Addiction, by Jay P Hotrum

This program is PATENT-PENDING and when the patent clears, it will be the first and only drug treatment program ever patented in the United States for meth and cocaine addiction. It will be the ONLY DRUG TREATMENT PROGRAM ever available in book form, making this completely anonymous treatment in the privacy of your own home. This book is the answer. Please read the back cover for true testimonies that were unsolicited and believe that there were hundreds more that came to the websites that sold the original program. Never a single email received saying that the program was unsuccessful or had any flaws, just positive reviews saying “thank-you” for the help. This program is new, this is current, and this will work for anyone who reads and follows the entire book. The track record is solid and valid and being tested further always, so please read on. How to Quit Meth Now! Is a self-help guide to kicking any Cocaine or Methamphetamine addiction. It’s an algorithm style drug treatment program that guarantees anyone who reads through the entire book and follows all of the instructions inside WILL BE DRUG FREE by the time they close the back cover and will have all of the tools to stay drug free for the rest of their life. Quit Meth Now! is the culmination of a 14 year study through trial and error that is the cure for drug addiction and takes the addict who is CURRENTLY USING meth or cocaine and teaches them how to first, let go and walk away, then teaches them how to self-detox with a 14 day program. The self-detox method uses several over-the-counter pharmaceuticals, vitamins, herbs and other products that reduce the withdrawal symptoms associated with drug addiction and treatment. During the process it teaches the addict several mind techniques that will help to counter all of the triggers that usually chase the addict back into relapse. Quit meth Now! is a cure and a final step that does not allow for relapse and ends the problem of addiction with simple mind games once the 14 day self-detox is complete. This is a full-service plan that attacks all of the spheres of influence that have been keeping the addict addicted for so long. Quit Meth Now! is the long awaited cure for addiction that will take the user on a long journey through all aspects of addiction and answer the questions of how, when and why they became addicted while also teaching them how to fix the problem permanently so that they can live a drug free lifestyle for the rest of their lives. This is the cure and this is the solution. This is a tried and true program in every sense and the QuitMeth program has a 100% effective rate over the internet for the past 10 years, as we did our research to make sure that this book was the final step that cures addiction, once and for all. We have been hiding from the world to create this program and this book is written in a style that speaks directly to the reader and teaches the truth through philosophical belief that the cure is within you because the power to cure a drug addiction is you. This is not a faith-based program in that it speaks directly to the addict in real terms and doesn’t pass-the-buck by asking the reader to trust a higher power. Religion is always on one’s own terms and has nothing to do with drug addiction. If you or anyone you know wants to kick a drug addiction right now, once and for all, you NEED this book. This program is also designed in a way that will supply an addict who is not interested in quitting with enough subliminal information on how to quit, that they will most likely decide to quit anyway within 6 months to a year, if they read all of the material. This book digs deep into the mind and takes away the ability of an addict to say that they're addicted because there is no way to quit…Drug addiction is NOT a disease my friends…and time is relevant. Peace!
