Very well done

This book was recommended by Dr. Brent Lin, of the pediatric program at UCSF

While I bought it about a year ago, I only just finished reading most of it.
It's very well written. It's concise without missing anything.
Frankly, there's nothing that I can think to add or remove to this regarding the standard of care for pediatric dentistry.

Surprisingly, there's also a pretty well written section on pediatric practice management. There's also the best written material on the reconstruction of cleft lip and palate in any text that I've read.

This is the perfect book for dentists interested in understanding the standard of care, the protocols of treating kids, and the scientific rationale behind it.
The only possible complaint is that this isn't equivalent to a pediatric residency (however, no book would be).

I havc all nine editions and all new editions are nicely updated. The chapter on genetics for the
practicing dentist is excellent. It meticulously integrates the science of molecular biology and clinical dentistry. This text should be required for all pediatric dental residents to read.

Good Intro Zoology Book

I teach this course, but our vendor could not get a copy of this book for me, so I ordered one from Amazon. Using this book for a high-school Zoology course and have been pleased with the level of detail. Terminology can be a little tough for students, but the authors do a good job of explaining terms and use lots of photos to illustrate concepts.

Easy to navigate, good information

I ordered this book out of curiosity, not for a class. It was very nicely priced (I bought it used, still in AMAZING condition). It is easy to understand and it is very well laid out. If you are a visual learner like me, this is a great book with plenty of diagrams. One thing that I do want that isn't in the book is a vocab section at the beginning o each chapter like I have had in school textbooks before. Not a big deal, just like to see what is in the section.

About the Author
James A. Heintz currently guides today's students as Professor and Director of Accounting and Information Systems in the School of Business at the University of Kansas, where he has taught for 11 years. Prior to joining University of Kansas, he was the Accounting Department Head at the University of Connecticut for eight years. He also served as Assistant, Associate and Full Professor for 20 years at Indiana University. Professor Heintz earned his doctorate from Washington University in St Louis and is a CPA. He was a Price Waterhouse Faculty Fellow at Indiana, an Arthur Andersen Faculty Fellow at Connecticut, and is currently the Deloitte & Touche Faculty Fellow at Kansas. Professor Heintz has won numerous school and university teaching awards, including three teaching awards from the Doctoral Student Association. He has served in various capacities on 24 doctoral dissertation committees. Heintz has published numerous articles in accounting and business journals, including THE ACCOUNTING REVIEW; AUDITING: A JOURNAL OF PRACTICE AND THEORY; ACCOUNTING AND BUSINESS RESEARCH; JOURNAL OF BUSINESS FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING; and INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ACCOUNTING EDUCATION AND RESEARCH. He served on the editorial board of AUDITING: A JOURNAL OF PRACTICE AND THEORY for seven years. Professor Heintz has served on various committees of the AAA and the FSA, and as president of the Accounting Programs Leadership Group of the AAA. He has participated in external reviews of accounting programs at 12 major universities.

Dr. Robert Parry is Professor Emeritus of Accounting at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business in Bloomington, Indiana. An accomplished teacher, Professor Parry has taught accounting at virtually all levels. While earning his MBA, he taught accounting at Bishop Klonowski High School in Pennsylvania. While earning his Ph.D., he taught introductory financial and managerial accounting at Northampton County Community College and Lehigh University. At Indiana, he taught in the undergraduate, MBA, Masters Ph. D. programs. In addition, he has taught accounting in the Consortium of Universities for International Studies in Asolo, Italy. During his 35 years at Indiana University, he won or was nominated for 27 teaching excellence awards, including recognition twice by Business Week as one of the country's Outstanding MBA Faculty. In addition, he was awarded the Indiana University Distinguished Service Award for planning and deploying an integrated MBA Core Program. He also received the Kelley School of Business Innovative Teaching Award for designing and implementing the Master of Science in Accounting Program curriculum. Dr. Parry has conducted research in public finance, governmental accounting, and accounting education. Dr. Parry was lead author on the Service Efforts and Accomplishments research report published by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board. I bought this so I didn't have to pay the college bookstore's outrageous price, and for the price I paid it is a great book. It came as described. It has some wear on the outside of the book (on the corners and the spine), but that is normal for used books. It also has highlighting in it, but that is fine with me because I was going to highlight in it anyway. So I gave this 5 stars because it was as described and arrived on time.

What A Plan!

W. Bruce Cameron is a writer who always satisfies my need to read. His books are well written with a large dose of humor. The main character in The Midnight Plan of the Repo Man is a man who wants to do the right thing. Ruddy McCann was headed for the NFL but wound up in prison instead for vehicular manslaughter. When he gets out of prison, he refuses to pursue that football career in deference to the dead girls parents. He couldn't imagine being seen as a big shot on the field when they will never again see their daughter alive.

I like everything about this book. The cast of characters are unique and fully developed, just odd enough to make them interesting and believable. The complicated plot plays out in such a way that it's not the least bit difficult to understand. Just as an example, we hear another person talking to Ruddy inside his mind and don't know how it got there for quite sometime. Ruddy thinks maybe he's finally gone crazy and the reader is treated to a play by play of their dialogue that is hilarious.

I can recommend this book to anyone who likes to read a good story and has a sense of humor. If you've never read Bruce Cameron's books, do yourself a favor and start with this one. If you like dogs, A Dogs Purpose, A Dogs Journey or his most recent book The Dog Master are all excellent.

Sheer Fun From Beginning to End

Ruddy McCann's life was pretty sucky even before he started hearing a voice in his head. Since that career in the NFL thing didn't pan out, he's been working as a repo man and bouncer in his sister's bar. He didn't think it was possible, but things are going to get a whole lot worse.

The voice - who is it? What does it want?

Turns out, the voice has a name - Alan, and he's not any happier about the situation than Ruddy. As he astutely observes, "I'm a man trapped in a man's body."

This, of course, turns out to be something akin to having Felix Unger and Oscar Madison try to inhabit the same brain, and translates into pages and pages of merriment for the reader.

There are a lot of things going on here. Ruddy's suddenly trying to solve a murder, while figuring out who's sending bad checks to his feeble-minded buddy AND dealing with his sister's new beau's shady credit card scheme. The author manages to keep all plates deftly spinning, so three cheers for that.

My favorite bits were the repos and even more, the attempted repos. As Ruddy puts it, being a repo man requires "nerves of stupidity", and that is well demonstrated here. One repo turns into a repeated gag which had one of THE BEST conclusions EVER. It also provided the BEST LAUGH I've had in ages!

Oh, yeah - there's also a lovable elderly dog (who doesn't die!)

Paws down, this is a winner.

Exciting book-couldn't put it down

From a favorite author, this story captivated me instantly and I had to keep reading until the exciting conclusion. While weaving lots of action in between interesting characters and settings, the story was playing out so strongly in my head that I was actually seeing it as a movie that was rolling. It's got love, dogs, mysteries, heroics, and all in a couple of hours of quality reading enjoyment. W. Bruce Cameron scores another success.

I found the Part 1 book to be excellent. The chapters are well-written and the sequence of ...

I’ve worked through the entirety of Part 1 of this two part edition. I bought both Part 1 and 2, but have yet to delve into Part 2.

I found the Part 1 book to be excellent. The chapters are well-written and the sequence of topics for the chapters are logically organized to allow you to learn Autodesk Inventor. The book progresses from learning the basics of Inventor to more and more challenging and advanced topics.

Each chapter first gives an explanation how to use a particular set of the tool(s) or feature(s) and the variations you could encounter. After this, you are given one or more exercises to practice using the tool. Each tool or feature discussed in the chapter will have a practice exercise. You can download the files that will be used for the practice exercises. This is highly recommended since some of the models used are quite complex and you don’t have to build them from scratch. On second thought, that would have been a nice addition for more advanced students - a section in the book allowing you to construct the models that will be used to explain certain features of the program.

At the end of each chapter there is a series of questions to test your knowledge of what was discussed in the chapter.

The only negative comment I have concerns some of the images used to illustrate the use of tools and features. All the images in the book are black and white and shades of gray. As is common nowadays, many books are published on lower quality paper and images are not reproduced with their original colors. This is understandable because of the expense to the publisher. However, some of the images in the book are so dark it is difficult to see what is being illustrated. Inventor uses different colors to emphasize selections and features while you are working. Unfortunately, none of these colors are shown in the book. This, of course, is not the fault of the authors, but of the publisher.

In spite of the last comment, I still rate the book as 5 stars. I’m looking forward to working my way through Part 2.

Good tutorial for people with prior skills.

This is part 1. I was proficient at Acad 3d drawing some years back and largely still proficient with 2d cad drawing. This is part 1 and lays a foundation to continue on to part 2. These books both seem to be directed toward someone with some degree of cad skills and some knowledge of 3d drafting. I would rate the book fairly high on the tutorial guide however, it does start skipping the actual tutorial instruction and expects you to know how to draw certain parts. This is not a problem but it would be a welcome addition for there to be a note or signal that the reader is expected to draw the part shown. Most tutorials were pretty clear, however, like any book of this nature there are some gaps where something isn't clear. In some cases that's not a bad thing since it requires the user to work through the program on their own or do additional research. All in all, I would recommend the book.

About the Author
Dean Miller is a retired professor from the University of Toledo. He received his B.S. degree from Wheaton College and his H.S.D. and M.S. degrees from Indiana University. He taught health-related courses for over 35 years.

James H. Price is Professor of Health Promotion in the Department of Health Promotion and Human Performance at the University of Toledo. In addition to his Ph.D. Dr. Price has an M.P.H. degree from the University of Oklahoma, and M.S.and B.S.degrees from Indiana State University. He teaches a wide variety of courses including Community Health, Consumer Health, Human Sexuality, Health Promotion Programs, Research Seminar in Health Education and Issues in Public Health. He is a member of the editorial boards for the AMerican Journal of Health Behavior and the American Journal of Health Studies. He has received many awards including the 1995 Outstanding Researcher Award from the American School Health Association. Dr. Price is member of many organizations and is a founding member of the American Academy of Health Behavior. He is widely published in numerous peer reviewed journals and has written several books.
